Energy Healing and Collective Healing

In addition to supporting individual sovereignty, energy healing can support our deep engagement with each other as we assimilate the difficult truths of past and present injustices, and can nurture us as we collectively craft a reality that sustains each of us and all of us.

How can energy healing support us as we imagine and co-create an equitable future?

I initially wrote this piece for an antiracism group I co-facilitate. I am sharing it here because I believe that energy healing can support the cultivation of faith, wisdom, and connection–three human attributes that I believe are foundational as we imagine and co-create an equitable future.

In addition to supporting individual sovereignty, energy healing can support our deep engagement with each other as we assimilate the difficult truths of past and present injustices, and can nurture us as we collectively craft a reality that sustains each of us and all of us.

Faith: The day to day, hard work of sustaining and sharing hope and love. Living the life that is moment to moment underlain with the belief that life is and that it is inherently right in its isness. Finding wonder and beauty everywhere, choosing wonder through focus. Knowing that we are ever-emergent and that we each have the power to co-create and the inherent responsibility to be fully present in this moment.

What sustains faith? Practice, ritual, peaceful quotidian expressions of the mundane: the garden, the bread, the nursery, cleaning and preparing and making.

Wisdom: The accumulating effect of knowledge. Seeing the transcendent patterns in history, across cultural expressions, across species, across places, and across times. Keeping current events in the context of this flow. Knowing that each idea comes from the collective and that we are vessels that carry it forward. Moment to moment truth seeking and truth telling: developing the courage to advance ideas and the humility to revise them. Self-awareness, humility, curiosity that leads to continuous learning.

What sustains and cultivates wisdom? Thoughtful curation of information. Integrity-grounded exploration. Truth and belief grounded in a shared reality.

Connection: The salve and salvation for the hard work of life, finding like hearts and minds and hands, and forging a new and beautiful alchemy of the moment, a shared vision, with others. Alchemy defined as melding elemental matter, weaving a collective tapestry, combining our charisms to create a compound that is unique and appropriate for the moment.

What cultivates and sustains connection? Believing that you are in the right place in the right time. Seeing the person in front of you as the expression of the divine.

We have faith that the present cannot arise if it is not appropriate. Our wisdom, gained through experience, shows us that we cannot stray from our paths, or from our histories. Our faith and our wisdom allow us to reach out across infinite space to connect with other souls. By bringing awareness in each moment to this potential for connection, we walk forward in full recognition of our responsibility as an expression, not a sacrifice, of our sovereignty. The act of connection breathes life into our individual expressions through a deep recognition and a cultivation of something so much greater than ourselves.

By bringing full attention to this moment, we do not release our responsibility for the past, or our hope for the future. By applying faith and wisdom through connection we plant the seeds of the future—seeds we deeply believe in—that will bear fruit that we will never see (this is a poignant truth). We can be reborn, create and recreate ourselves in each moment, and the fertile ground of our rebirth is the collection of all of the previous moments of our lives.

How do you support and sustain your activism and engagement?
